Meet Joe Sullivan, our Director of New Business Development and a key member of our team at Peak Construction.
Joe has been with us since 2001 and has played a vital role in our business development and sales efforts. With over 20 years of experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for building long-term client relationships.
Tell us about your role at Peak Construction.
I’ve been with Peak since 2001, so about 23 years. My role involves networking, developing long-term client relationships, and finding new deals. I focus on aligning our services with clients’ needs, even if it means working on deals that might come to fruition years down the line.
What inspired you to join and pursue a career in construction?
After the telecom bubble burst in the early 2000s, I transitioned to construction. My brother suggested I work as a site superintendent to gain experience. I found my niche in sales and business development, where I could leverage my networking skills and build long-term relationships.
What skills are the most critical for success in your role?
Being adaptable and understanding clients’ needs are crucial. Transparency and quick problem-solving are key.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Life isn’t fair” – understanding this early on helped me stay positive and resilient. Hard work and a positive attitude are essential, especially in a long-term sales environment where building relationships is key.
What are the things outside of work that you’re passionate about?
I’m passionate about hunting and fishing. I enjoy outdoor activities and engaging with people in various settings, whether at a game, a park, or a barbecue. Surrounding myself with positive people is important to me.
How do you bring your personal interests and mindset into the culture at Peak Construction?
While my role involves a lot of networking outside the office, I try to bring a positive and engaging attitude whenever I interact with colleagues. I focus on building meaningful relationships and fostering a collaborative environment.
