Get to know Julia, as she continues her successful career with Peak Construction.
What do you like most about working at Peak Construction?
Three Fs- feedback, flexibility, and function.
Feedback: efforts are recognized and appreciated, coaching
Flexibility: the opportunity to work remotely, work-life balance.
Function: opportunities for professional growth
What is the most rewarding part of being a woman in the construction industry?
Although in the last years the presence of female engineers and architects has increased, the construction industry is still male dominated. Women can provide not only a valuable perspective but a dissenting voice that complements men’s alternative views. In this way, we together can make better decisions and develop broader definitions of success.
If you weren’t in Construction, what would you be doing?
Pursuing a career in finance.
What is your biggest weakness?
It might sound like an overly rehearsed cliché but I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to delivering an exceptional project. Over time, I have learned not to place too much emphasis on minor details but to set realistic goals and expectations.
What motivated you to pursue architecture/construction management?
I have an artistic, creative, and logical nature. Through architecture I am able to integrate art, design, and creative problem solving. When designing, I look for excellence and to exalt beauty in architectural forms that respond to the contained function and for which a project is carried out, a need. But, more than just designing buildings, I love leading a project from its design conception to construction.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Building a long-term career with Peak Construction with more management responsibilities and undertaking interesting and complex projects.
