Tell us about your role at Peak Construction.

I’m currently a Project Manager working with Jeff Musielewicz and Eric Helton on the Axium project in St. Peters, Missouri — a 200,000-square-foot design-build with a two-story interior office. I started at Peak as a Project Engineer, working alongside Tanner Bogaczyk and Joe Bielawski on Peak’s DHL Clear Springs Logistics Park Building 2 project in PA. Our team then moved onto NorthPoint’s Turnpike 1 Trade Center Building 4 project in Pilesgrove, NJ, and we then ended up on the NorthPoint’s Manchester Commerce Center Building 2 project in Manchester, PA where I was later promoted to PM during that job.

I’ve been fortunate to work under several Project Executives — including Rebecca Kuepers, Mike McCormick, and Jeff Musielewicz. They all have their own management style, and I’ve learned many valuable things from each one of them. One of the things I appreciate most about Peak is how every leader is approachable and genuinely invested in your growth.

What inspired you to pursue a career in construction?

My path was definitely a winding one. I actually started out as a middle school math teacher — both of my parents were teachers, and so were three of my brothers. I loved working with students, but I realized over time that my true passion lay within construction.

Before teaching, I’d spent years in the trades, doing residential work and general contracting, so I decided to go back to my roots. I opened my own residential construction company and ran it for over 15 years. It was successful, but eventually it became too much to juggle with a growing family.

A friend and former colleague of mine who had joined Peak kept telling me how great this company was. I finally agreed to meet with John Reilly, and after talking with him, there was no question that Peak was where I wanted to be. John’s leadership style and the company’s culture really resonated with me.

How have your past experiences helped prepare you for what you do today?

Every aspect of my background plays a role in what I do now. Teaching taught me how to communicate with different types of people and recognize that everyone learns and works differently. Those skills are critical in construction — whether it’s with a client, a teammate, or a subcontractor.

Owning my own company helped me understand the multiple facets of running a project — from budgeting and scheduling to managing relationships. I learned how important it is to align expectations, provide transparency and collaborate on solutions, and the importance of building long-term relationships with clients.

Even my hands-on experience in the trades has been invaluable. Understanding what happens in the field helps me communicate better with our superintendents, foresee potential issues and view projects from multiple angles.

What has been your most memorable moment at Peak so far?

Being promoted to Project Manager was definitely a proud moment for me at Peak. It felt great to know that my hard work and dedication was recognized and that the company saw a valuable opportunity in promoting me to become a PM.

Beyond that, the everyday experiences stand out — the collaboration, the learning, and the constant encouragement from everyone I work with. Peak’s environment really promotes growth while lessening the fear of making mistakes.

What do you enjoy most about working at Peak?

Definitely the people and the culture. Peak feels like a family — there’s a comfort level here that’s hard to find elsewhere. No one is too busy or too important to help. I can call anyone, from my PX to leadership, and they’ll take the time to walk me through whatever I need.

What really sets Peak apart is how much they value their employees. If something doesn’t go as planned, leaders don’t reprimand — they sit down next to you, talk through what happened, how it could have been avoided and ways to learn from it for next time. That kind of support makes all the difference.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their career in construction or at Peak?

Ask questions — and don’t be afraid to push outside of your comfort zone. “Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” – John Wooden

I’ve learned that it’s better to take a risk and grow from the experience than to hold back trying to make something perfect. Peak is the kind of place that encourages that kind of learning. They want you to succeed and will help you every step of the way.

What are your interests and passions outside of work?

Family and the outdoors are everything to me. My wife and I have been married for 13 years, and we have two kids — an 11-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter.

We recently moved to central Pennsylvania after living near Philadelphia for years. It was a dream of mine to live out in the country, and now we do — surrounded by woods and farmland. I coach my daughter’s soccer team, watch my son play baseball and basketball, and love spending time outside together with my family.

I’m also an avid hunter. Living on a mountain gives us the chance to ride four-wheelers, explore, and even hunt on our own property. My son has taken up hunting too, which has been really special to share with him.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Just how grateful I am for everyone at Peak who’s helped me along the way. From day one, I’ve felt valued, welcomed, and supported. Peak is truly a company that invests in its people — and that’s something I’ll never take for granted.
