Meet Rebecca Kuepers, our Project Executive at Peak Construction

With over two and a half years at Peak Construction and extensive experience in design-build and industrial construction, Rebecca brings specialized expertise and a collaborative spirit to her role as Project Executive. She leads project management teams with a focus on overseeing complex projects, nurturing client relationships, and guiding her teams to success. Rebecca is dedicated to advancing Peak’s mission by combining her hands-on project knowledge with a strong commitment to mentorship and team development.

Tell us about your role at Peak Construction.

As a Project Executive, I oversee my project management team across our active construction projects. My day-to-day includes making sure each project progresses smoothly, whether that means providing guidance, helping with bids and proposals, or collaborating with our subcontractors. I act as a liaison between different project groups, keeping communication open and goals aligned. I’ve been at Peak for about two and a half years, and I came on board directly as a Project Executive. My background is primarily in design-build, industrial construction, so this role was a natural fit for my expertise.

What inspired you to pursue a career in the construction field?

My journey actually started with a college degree in architecture. Early on, I realized I wanted to be more hands-on and see things built rather than just stay on the drawing side. I enjoy the tangible aspect of construction – seeing something go from paper to reality, and having a role in making that happen. Construction is very hands-on, and I enjoy getting to problem-solve in real time while I am out on the field.

What has been your favorite project at Peak so far?

That would be the DHL Annville project in Pennsylvania. It was interesting because I had previously worked on DHL projects before joining Peak, so I had an established relationship with the client. When I joined Peak, I ended up continuing that work for DHL, which made the transition really smooth. The Annville project was unique because we had to do rock blasting, something I hadn’t encountered before. It was challenging but rewarding to learn the ins and outs of that process.

What do you enjoy most about working at Peak?

Definitely the people and the culture. There’s a real family feel at Peak. From the executive team to our project management teams, everyone is genuinely supportive. For example, early on, I worked on some projects in South Carolina with Mike, one of our leaders here. He told me, “You’re family now,” and he meant it. That kind of warmth and camaraderie is rare, and it makes Peak a special place to work. There’s a genuine sense that everyone is here to support one another.

What skills do you think are the most critical for success in your role?

Multitasking and organization are huge because there are so many moving parts. But equally important is managing people. You’re not just overseeing projects; you’re guiding a team, mentoring them, and helping them grow. Understanding each person’s unique needs and communication style is key. It takes time to figure out how best to support each team member, but it’s worth it because when they succeed, the whole project benefits.

Could you share a memorable experience you’ve had while working at Peak?

One of my favorite memories was attending a charity gala in Charleston. It was a fundraiser for Trident Community College, and Peak had bought a table for the event. It was a black-tie affair, with the college’s culinary students creating and serving an incredible meal. My husband joined me, and it was such a great experience – one that really demonstrated Peak’s commitment to community and family.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their career in construction or at Peak?

Take advantage of your resources, especially the people you work with. At Peak, we have such knowledgeable team members, and learning from their experiences is invaluable. Also, focus on building relationships. It’s not just about emails or texts; face-to-face communication is crucial. When you connect with subcontractors, clients, and colleagues on a personal level, you gain insights and form connections that can last throughout your career.

What are your interests and passions outside of work?

I’ve been doing pottery for about seven or eight years, and it’s become my creative outlet. Pottery allows me to unwind and engage that artistic side that first drew me to architecture. One of my daughters, who’s also studying architecture, has even taken up pottery, which is fun to see. Beyond that, my family is a big part of my life. My husband and I love visiting our daughters at college. Both of my daughters are at the University of Michigan, which is a full-circle moment for me since that’s where I went to school, too.
