Meet Ilana Reznik, Project Manager II at Peak Construction
For nearly five years, Ilana Reznik has helped lead some of Peak Construction’s most complex industrial projects with a thoughtful, hands-on approach and a passion for problem-solving. As a Project Manager II, she enjoys bringing structure to every stage of a project—from preconstruction through closeout—while working alongside teammates who share the same commitment to collaboration, integrity, and delivering exceptional results. Her path to construction may have started in architecture, but her passion for building began much earlier.
Tell us about your role at Peak Construction.
I’ve been with Peak for almost five years and currently serve as a Project Manager II. I joined the company as a Project Manager I and was promoted last year, which has been an exciting milestone in my career.
Right now, I’m wrapping up Windsor 8 in New Jersey while preparing to begin Executive Drive for IDI in Franklin this summer. I’m also involved with DHL Real Estate Solutions LSHC Tenant Improvement in Pennsylvania, one of the larger DHL build-outs our team is working on.
Every day looks a little different, which is one of the things I enjoy most about my role. My mornings usually begin with project calls before I head into the office to coordinate contracts, schedules, change orders, subcontractors, and whatever challenges need to be solved that day. At Peak, everyone is willing to jump in wherever they’re needed. Whether it’s helping coordinate a major project milestone or taking care of a small task to keep work moving, our team is focused on doing whatever it takes to support one another and deliver for our clients.
What inspired you to pursue a career in construction?
Construction has always been part of who I am—even before I realized it.
When I was three years old, I apparently escaped from daycare to explore the construction site next door because I wanted to climb into a front wheel loader. Looking back, I guess that was my first clue that I was meant to work in construction.
As I got older, I developed an interest in architecture and earned my degree in the field. During college, I realized I didn’t necessarily want to become an architect, but I still wanted to be part of creating and building projects.
After graduation, I joined a company where I worked in both architecture and construction management, designing student housing while managing projects from start to finish. That experience helped me discover that commercial construction was exactly where I wanted to build my career.
How have your past experiences helped prepare you for what you do today?
Every experience throughout my career has helped shape how I approach my work today.
Before joining Peak, I worked for several construction companies in New York City, where I learned a tremendous amount about the industry and what I valued in an employer. Those experiences reinforced how important it is to work for a company that prioritizes integrity, professionalism, and doing the right thing.
From my very first conversations with Peak, it was clear those values were part of the company’s culture. Knowing that everyone—from leadership to project teams—shares that same commitment has made it incredibly rewarding to build my career here.
What has been your most memorable project at Peak so far?
Windsor 8 has been the most rewarding project I’ve worked on.
I was involved long before construction began, helping with estimating and preconstruction while the project worked through nearly two years of planning before breaking ground. Being able to stay with it from those early conversations all the way through construction and now into closeout has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
It was also one of the more complex projects I’ve worked on, which made watching everything come together even more satisfying.
What do you enjoy most about working at Peak?
Without a doubt, it’s the people.
Our East Coast office is a close-knit team, and we’ve built relationships that extend well beyond the office. We celebrate milestones together, spend time with each other’s families, and genuinely enjoy working alongside one another every day.
I have the flexibility to work remotely when I need to, but I usually choose to come into the office because I enjoy being around my teammates. It’s not unusual for conversations at the end of the workday to turn into discussions about weekend plans, vacations, or family before we realize how much time has passed.
That sense of connection, combined with a culture built on respect, collaboration, and support, is what makes Peak special.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their career in construction or at Peak?
Be ready to learn, stay flexible, and communicate often.
Project management isn’t just about schedules and budgets—it’s about solving problems, building relationships, and working together to keep projects moving forward. Every day presents new opportunities to learn, and no two projects are exactly alike.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that communication is everything. The more you communicate with your team, clients, and trade partners, the more successful your projects will be. Staying connected, asking questions, and working together to solve challenges makes all the difference.
What are your interests and passions outside of work?
Outside of work, my family keeps me busy.
I have an 18-month-old son, and we’re expecting our second child this November, so most weekends are spent at birthday parties, playgrounds, swim lessons, and keeping up with a very energetic toddler.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I’m incredibly grateful to be part of a team that genuinely supports one another.
The people at Peak care about doing great work, but they also care about each other. That culture makes coming to work enjoyable, creates opportunities to continue growing professionally, and reminds me every day why I chose to build my career here.
