PeakGiving Begins with PADS Donation

Des Plaines, IL (September 5, 2014) — Peak Construction Corporation has officially begun PeakGiving, our philanthropic effort to give back.  Today, with the help of Sunstar Americas, Inc., we donated hundreds of toiletry items to Journeys in Palatine.  Journeys is a not-for-profit organization offering a variety of services to those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in suburban Cook County, including a PADS Emergency Shelter Program.  PADS has approximately 2,500 volunteers who prepare, supervise, and clean as well as prepare and serve dinner, breakfast and a sack lunch.  PADS services are accessible from October 1st through April 30th providing over 16,000 overnight stays and approximately 50,000 meals annually, with numbers increasing every year.

Peak’s donation included toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, first aid kits, razors, shampoo and deodorant.  “We are excited for the opportunity to engage our clients and subcontractors in partnering with various organizations, such as Journeys, to make a difference in our corner of the world,” Mike Sullivan, CEO, stated.

There are over 3,000 reported cases of homelessness in all of suburban Cook County.  In the Northwest suburbs alone, there are 1,200 homeless people accessing shelters with approximately 400 additional homeless people residing on the streets, in cars and throughout forest preserves.  – Illinois Coalition to End Homelessness
