PeakGiving Volunteers at Northern Illinois Food Bank Mobile Pantry

Des Plaines, IL (April 25, 2017) — Peak Construction Corporation’s PeakGiving Team recently volunteered at one of Northern Illinois Food Bank’s many Mobile Pantry stops. The Team joined Northern Illinois Food Bank staff and volunteers to distribute food to 128 families (507 family members) in need in Wheaton on a beautiful spring afternoon. PeakGiving continues “Building Good in the World” by partnering annually with Northern Illinois Food Bank as a Circle of Hope member.

The Mobile Pantry program is just one way the Food Bank delivers much-needed food to areas where the need for food surpasses the capacity of existing food pantry resources. These “traveling food pantries” provide up to 10,000 pounds of meat, fresh produce, shelf-stable foods and non-food household items for up to 150 families per stop.

Last year alone, Northern Illinois Food Bank distributed more than 13.4 million meals to 107,000 residents of DuPage County, where eight percent of residents face food insecurity, including nearly 15 percent of children.

Northern Illinois Food Bank leads the Northern Illinois community in solving hunger by providing nutritious meals to those in need through innovative programs and partnerships.
