Challenge: Peak was engaged to build the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton in Bridgeview next to SeatGeek Stadium.  The project encountered three main challenges requiring pivotal solutions.  During the design process, the brand issued its new prototype design and, as such, some of the new aspects were mixed with the previous prototype.  Strict schedule milestones were implemented to facilitate the hotel’s completion and opening coinciding with an “open air” concert at the Stadium.  Additionally, the project endured an incredibly brutal Chicago winter which threatened the vital completion date.

Solution: Extensive coordination and communication were key elements Peak employed among the Owner, Brand and entire Project Team.  Keeping the lines of communication open and flowing allowed the incorporation of new prototype design elements as much as possible.  The project schedule constraints dictated placing the site paving prior to erecting the hotel structure, not only to accelerate the schedule, but also to effectively organize the jobsite preserving a safe and clean site.  The Project Team continued construction during harsh temperatures to reduce weather delays and meet the completion date.  Peak worked closely with the municipality and the gas utility to expedite natural gas service to the building to provide less costly temporary heat facilitating interior work despite the temperatures, as well as, tarping the exterior and erecting scaffolding to install EIFS.  Ultimately, the hotel opened on time for the concert with a very happy Owner.
